I’m making a doctors appointment for my son tomorrow for a separate issue and will bring this up too but I’ve noticed my sons hands looks off colour and wondering if anyone else can see it as my husband thinks they look fine. Thanks!

Maybe slightly on the palm but it's a VERY cute photo though.

Yes they do look slightly yellow. Any chance he’s been using yellow paint or pens or playing outside & picking daffodils? Probably ideal to rule those out before you jump straight to liver/kidney failure or imminent death.

Did your dog think this was a group hands in type situation? That’s adorable

A friend of mine had a toddler with slightly orange hands. It turned out that the child was consuming vast quantities of orange food, mostly baby food from jars.

Reepycreepy · 09/03/2026 19:35

I love that your dog got into the photo. Is it a Labrador?

Woliverine · 09/03/2026 19:35

Do they eat a lot of carrots & sweet potatoes etc? It’s probably hypercarotenaemia. It’s harmless.

That’s what my friend’s toddler was diagnosed with.

Thanks for the replies! Yes Golden Lab, he wanted to join in the fun!

My son has had blood tests as he has ongoing symptoms with frequent urinating. The liver result was slightly high, doctor says it’s normal for a growing child but now I’m worried as this was before I noticed the yellow

He doesn’t eat a lot of orange vegetables but eats a lot of tomatoes

His eyes don’t look yellow fortunately, I’m hoping this rules out jaundice?

Jaundice is most strongly visible in the whites of the eyes, so it should.

agatamum · 09/03/2026 23:39

I think he has Homer Simpsonitis.

Reepycreepy · 10/03/2026 02:14

His urine will be very dark orange if he has jaundice.

What was high - enzymes, bilirubin or both?

cadburyegg · 10/03/2026 09:43

His hand looks normal to me

dizzydizzydizzy · 10/03/2026 09:51

Dc2 gets this. They are now a young adult. Blood test always normal. We have always put it down to their love of carrots.

I'm not sure. I know it was a LFT, would that check for both?
