Hi all can anyone suggest a good multivitamin for my 6 year old? She is constantly having colds, coughs and tends to have a few weeks break and then back with another. Im thinking she may be lacking vitamins. Do you have any suggestions that are good please?

If she is getting a good diet with plenty of fluid, protein, veg and fruit, she shouldn't need a vitamin. Too many vitamins in the form of pills can be harmful.

Young children pick up all kinds of germs at school. Generally the illnesses resolve themselves.

Yes ans she only drinks water she doesnt like fizzy or juice. She only likes green vegetables and eats various fruits. I wouldnt usually consider multivitamins but she tends to have an unusually high amount of colds/coughs throughout the year.

My teen DDs still eat a chewable Bassets vitamin daily. They come in a range of ages so you can move up to the next level as necessary. Their diet is similar to your DD.

Have a look into different vitamins - some are fat soluble - you don’t want too many of these from a multivitamin tablet if she is getting these from food.

Water soluble vitamins get flushed from the body if you have too many so maybe safer to try to top these up with a tablet first and see if that helps? These include vitamin C and B complex which help boost the immune system so maybe look for a tablet that contain these types only?

I am not a doctor though!

My kids just have the Tesco or Sainsbury's chewable multi vitamins - they are like gummy sweets.

Every one in the UK needs vitamin D over the winter. You don’t get vitamin D from
fruit and veg.

That’s correct.

We use the supermarket own kids multivitamin gummies. I find Morrisons the best value for what they contain and how many you get in a jar.
