Constantly enlarged tonsils in 3.5yo

3.5yo DS has chronically swollen and lumpy tonsils. Only had a throat infection once AFAIK, generally very healthy and well (touch wood) and eats well, not overweight, sleeps through, constantly on the go. No issues with behaviour.
I have attached a (blurry and bad) picture of his tonsil where you can see the redness and swelling which is always present.
He mouth breathes at night and snores but doesn’t complain of any pain in his throat or anything. Took him to GP 18 months ago who said he will likely grow out of it but to go back to see them if he doesn’t, he doesn’t qualify for the NHS tonsillectomy as he doesn’t suffer from recurrent tonsillitis.
Is there anything I can do for this? Should I push for a tonsillectomy privately (as have private insurance through work, if we go down this route I’m keen to get it done before he starts primary in sept) or leave it for now? Could I try any vitamins or supplements or let it see its course?

My 3.5 yo had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectony recently on the nhs just due to snoring and poor sleep, so I’d go back to the go and push for an ENT referral. Good luck!
