Hi all,

My little two weeks old son is unwell with viral bronchitis. Diagnosed at the hospital yesterday. His breathing is quick and his belly and neck sucks in slightly. He is still like it now. Doctor was happy to discharge us.

Has anyone's little one had this? And did anything help? Still petrified with the breathing like that. He's well in himself. Drinking his milk/skin colour good. Only thing is he isn't pooing as much. X

When mine had bronchiolitis at 7 months (with a positive RSV PCR), we had rib retractions but also excessive sleepiness, projectile vomiting & an elevated heart rate. We actually had similar trouble with LO at 6 months with COVID, but after a positive PCR for that, the hospital were happy to send us home, because COVID is normally fine in littles but RSV isn't necessarily.

Did they do the pulse oximeter/blood oxygen test - might have been a toe clip? Did they do a swab for viral testing and if so, do you know what the result was?

Finally, if anything changes for the worse - breathing, colour, milk intake, wet nappies, any red flags the doctor mentioned - don't wait for 111 or the GP to open, call 999 or go to A&E or a walk in centre.
