Son cough and snorting.. help!

My son is seven years old and has had a cough and sinus issues for what feels like forever. When I was younger, I had rhinitis and my husband has had sinus issues, two lots of surgery and postnasal drip.

My son is not unwell in himself never has a temperature and the cough doesn’t seem to bother him. It seems like he is constantly snorting to get the snot out of his sinuses and then coughing every time he eats it gets worse the cough is so harsh and although it may not be bothering him, I am finding it very annoying as it’s constant. I have tried antihistamines every day which have made no difference. We have tried various cough medicine. I took him to the GP who didn’t even look at him or examine him or look up his nose or in his throat and gave us a steroid nasal spray. I did use it for a bit, but it did nothing and I have started using it again whilst awaiting a referral to ENT consultant we have decided to go privately and are just waiting an appointment which will hopefully be soon.

I wonder if anyone else has had the same issues I am wondering if it is a habit thing or if given our history it is a real thing any tips and advice or welcome! Thanks!

It might be whooping cough. If you're vaccinated, you don't necessarily have the whoop but you do have the persistent snotty cough.

Something to try (why not and see if it helps) is ant acids? I have to take them sometimes after I eat and I notice I need to as I have to constantly cough and clear my throat!

Hmm not tried antacids but think I might. Thing is I can hear it in his sinus! He’s snorting to get rid so I guess ENT will help!
