Sickness bug with high temperature

Looking for some advice, my daughter started vomiting in the early hours of yesterday and she also had a high temperature. The vomiting seems to have stopped but she is still spiking a temperature. I’m so worried about her. Has anyone had this with their children?

Yes sounds like a normal childhood illness. Any other reason you are particularly concerned?

You dont say her age but assuming she's not a newborn then just keep treating her at home for now. If she deteriorates and becomes drowsy, dehydrated etc or it goes on too long/ develops a rash/ gets much worse then time to see the GP.

Depends on the age of the child. Under 5 call the doctor. Older than five or can’t see the doc urgently - pharmacist - they’re trained for this, know what to do, and know when it’s serious and the child needs A+E.

For a fever of 24 hours? Goodness no that's unnecessary just now.

Fever is normal with a stomach bug. Hydration is the main concern, try to have her drink something other than plain water as the body needs electrolytes, so apple juice, rehydration sachets, dilute that has sugar not sugar free.

Hi all, thanks for the responses. I was overly anxious last night. She’s 9 and doing much better this morning and the fever has gone.

Glad she’s feeling better. My one had this and turned out it was a double ear infection
