Morning all

Our little girl is 10 months old tomorrow and doesn't make an sounds such as 'pa, ba, ma' etc just screeches and giggles.

I'm told she should have been doing this for a while, should we be worried? Contacted the HV but have been told to wait for an appointment.

She did say 'pa' for about a week then stopped 2-3 weeks ago and hasn't said anything since. Is hitting other milestones well and wants to spend all her time standing, toddling around with our help.

Thanks x

My little boy 2nd child was the quietest little baby and toddler. I was a bit concerned as by 1st born was very vocal from an early age lots of sounds and an early talker. Still wasn’t speaking much at age 2 was going to bring it up in his 2 year check which was then delayed a month in that month he came on leaps and bounds and I was no longer concerned. I think as your baby is only 10 months I wouldn’t be too concerned at this stage going off my experience all kids are different. My little boy is now 3 years old and never shuts up haha 😛

@Mumoftwo2022 thanks for your response! Comparison is terrible isn't it, our NCT group all have very chatty babies so that along with some googling had me questioning if it was ok. The loss of sounds has me worried more so I think, but I guess we just need to wait and see what happens!

At 10 months, I wouldn't worry yet, especially if she is hitting the other milestones. Give her more time.
