Atypical chickenpox

Hi, just wondering if anyone can offer their experience, advice, reassurance. DD (7) is on her 11th day of chicken pox and new spots are still appearing.

I’ve spoken to the GP and just been for an out of hours appointment, and the doctor was completely unconcerned because she is so well in herself and jo signs of illness other than the new spots (fever resolved around day 4/5). But they have said this is atypical chicken pox and no one can tell me why she is still getting new spots when typically new spots cease around day 5.

I just feel like this is never ending. And the longer it goes on the worse my anxiety gets for risks like secondary infections.

I asked the doctor how long would be ‘too long’, like if she was still getting spots on day 21/30/50 etc. He just said the time to take her back to the doctors is if she develops a fever or appears ill in any other way.

I know NHS guidance suggests antivirals for cases of new spots after 5 days but I’m guessing this is only relevant if there are other clinic signs.

anybody else had this experience?
