Still her happy smiley self but her eye is red, slightly closed and after sleep it’s quite gunky (a yellow/ green coloured gunk). Is this cleared best with cooled down kettle water, with salt and to wipe regularly or is a trip to the doctors needed for some sort of drops? Thanks in advance

Usual advice is to bathe it with salt water as you describe, and see how it is after a few days. Often it clears by itself. If it spreads to the other eye or is very mucky, literally pouring with yellow gunk, you could contact the GP. Often they won’t give anything as it is self limiting. The drops you can buy are only licensed from age 2 years.
If it’s still mucky after a week or so, probably worth contacting the gp.

@Redcloaktraitor thank you. Today is day 2, yesterday was only watery though, but since today it has been gunky. I will continue as I have and will keep an eye on it over the next few days :)

If you are breast feeding, squirt some milk into the eye, when you feed.
