5 year old sick every month

I'm starting to worry that my child becomes ill an abnormal amount. Since she started school the end of August she has been sick every single month and has already missed 7 days of school. The illnesses vary but are mostly upper respiratory infections that clear up within a week or 2 and don't usually need further intervention however she usually gets a high temp that can last 5-7 days each time and if she has a cough she tends to puke at night. This means that for at least one week every month we are not sleeping.
We are in the throws if it again with high temp and earache that started on Saturday she has runny nose and very painful sore throat so it's a battle getting her to ear or drink. (She has no risk signs for strep)
She's done 2 years of preschool and every winter has been like this I thought it would get better by now.
Is it normal for a child to catch this many viruses or should I be concerned?

If it is normal when did it get better for your kid?

Mine are back to back illness from September until March. We might get two days of not being snotty before the tell tale clear snot starts again and their temp goes up. My reception aged child has already had two hospital stays from colds that have lead to bad viral wheezes. It's relentless.

This is my exact experience too. Sorry that you are going through it but it's nice to know I'm not alone. Bring on springtime!
