What's this on DD?

This appeared on Dd's elbow overnight. She does have a very bad virus at the moment but I wouldn't expect a viral rash to be localised to her elbow. She occasionnally says it hurts.

There were a couple of red dots when she woke up, now it seems to be visibly spreading. There are smaller ones going up her arm.

Shingles?

WelcomeLoud5 · 14/01/2026 10:36

Good point, I'll keep an eye on that. She did have chicken pox as a baby (before 1) which from what I see is a risk factor for shingles

I was going to say chicken pox. You can get it more than once.

Shingles starts with fluid filled blisters. However I’d get a pharmacist to take a look because if it is shingles, it’s essential to start medication within 3 days of the first spots. Take the photo to a pharmacy or call 111 asap ( photo can be texted to 111)

This was my dc shingles. We got the prescription quickly and it was gone in a week. Good luck

It’s the only way to have shingles! The CP virus sits dormant in your body and then can reactivate later on in life as blisters on one side of the body, can be caused my stress or being run down.

I had shingles a few years ago and it was painful.

You can shingles if you got chicken pox after you turned one. The risk factor is having chicken pox as an infant.
