Newborn Gagging when put down to sleep

I have an 8 week old who was born 5 weeks early. Hes feeding fine and not crying but makes extreme grunting noises and gagging like hes chocking on something. This gets worse at night and im scared to sleep as he doesnt settle. Any advice on this as hes not crying but looks like hes in pain?

We keep him upright for 30 minutes after each feed.

The grunting sounds normal - babies are very very noisy sleepers. It's like having a baby warthog in the bed. The choking less so; my initial thought would be reflux even though you keep him upright.
