Two year old suddenly sleeping more than usual

I’m probably being paranoid here but just after some general views…

My two year old has always been a terrible sleeper, waking several times a night. About four weeks ago he suddenly started sleeping through. Initially we thought this was great, however I’m just getting a bit concerned about how much he is sleeping.

He’s still asleep now (went to bed about 8.20pm last night but usual bedtime is 7.30ish) and this has been the norm throughout Christmas. Before Christmas we were waking him each day for nursery. I’m just about to wake him now else who knows what time he would sleep until!

So he’s gone from waking two - four times a night and up for the day at 6.30, to suddenly sleeping for 13/14 hours straight a night. He also still has a nap (he’s always loved a long day time nap, we regularly have to wake him from it).

He is fine in himself, perhaps more grouchy and clingy than normal but then we are all out of routine and seeing family etc who he doesn’t always see a lot of.

I’m sure he’s probably just catching up on all the lost sleep over the last 2.5 years, but would this ring alarm bells with anyone?

Is there anything else that's unusual? Fever? Vomiting? Diahorea? Appetite changes?

Mine went through phases, often linked to growth or developmental spurts. If nothing else is off I would just monitor it for now.

Mine would often sleep really well mid winter. You know your child though, don't ignore your instincts.

Just bumping this for anyone else who might see it and have some advice. Last night he slept from about 8pm - 9.15am when again I woke him up, and was down for a nap by 1.15pm. Completely his normal self in between. I think l’ll see how he goes this week back at nursery but it is low level concerning me.

I have a 2.5 year old and he’s the same. He’s always been a great sleeper though doing 13 hours overnight plus naps which he doesn’t want to wake from. Recently though he’s been pushing up to 14 hours night sleep some days.

General consensus amongst friends seems that it’s quite common. He is also slowly teething (molars) and appears to have grown about 4cm overnight so I’ve put it down to a growth spurt. What is his eating like? Mine has been eating a lot more and it always coincides with the longer sleep days too.
