3 year old recurrent coughs

Bit of a back story, our son had brochiolitis at around 9 weeks old and even had pneumonia as a baby. Last December he had the flu :-( he’s been treated for viral induced wheeze in a&e in the past too.
Ever since then pretty much every time he gets a cold he gets a non stop cough a lot worse at night. Im always back and forth to doctors they said his chest is clear and don’t give anything. His last episode was 3 weeks ago and eventually after about 7 days the doctor gave antibiotics because it wasn’t going. He got better then a week later he got another cold and cough and it’s still ongoing now on day 8. Feel so bad for him at night as he coughs so much. Dr just said chest was clear. I do worry about him he doesn’t seem to get rid of these things by himself. Anyone got any advice? Nothing seems to help. Tried everything. Might have to go see a private gp

Have you considered allergies or asthma? Do you live in a built up area or near lots of houses with woodburners? Just a thought to ask about.

Definately thought about that. He has eczema as well. He’s allergic to hazelnut. Wonder if there is anything else 🤔 we live in a small village with a lot of houses around us not sure on the wood burners tho

I’m asthmatic and if someone nearby is burning something they shouldn’t be on a woodburner I can have an attack just opening the door to let the dogs out.
Hope you get some answers soon.

Thanks for your reply. I do wonder if it’s asthma. Had inhalers before for coughs. Just been to see a private gp. He has a throat infection, totally missed by nhs gp he didn’t even check his throat. So frustrating. Got anti Biotics now

This my little boy was luckily diagnosed at the hospital and got inhalers and a nebuliser. He did grow out of it.
