Super threadworms?? - when do they die?

Hi everyone, we are navigating threadworms for the 5th time and I feel this strain is stronger than any I have come across. Anyone else noticed this? Both myself and my DD have them and I have never seen/felt anything like it - severe itching (now using antihistamines and steroid cream) and am even seeing them on me crawling in random places when I am woken at midnight with a weird sensation. It’s a literal horror show! We took mebendozole on Sunday - but last night was still bad. Is this normal? In my experience you take the tablets and the activity dies down within 24 hours. I have read some say 48 so I guess tonight I will know. Part of me is wondering if mebendozole is as effective as it was. I do have ivermectin so could switch to that - but I would not give DD that. Anyway just curious. In the past the hardest thing was always about reinfection not killing them in the first place

Crawling on you in random places - like where? My kids and me have had threadworms numerous times and I have never ever seen one anywhere other than close to the anus. They don't really go far from there!

Have you done the whole hot wash the bedding, wear pants at night, cut fingernails short etc?

If they are crawling on you in random places they are unlikely to be pinworm. I would take a sample and ask for it to be tested at the GP. Could it be round worm? They are bigger and you need higher doses prescribed of the same medicine to treat them, but they aren't serious.

Well I say random - one was crawling up past the anus - and the other one down. I’ve never had that. They looked like threadworms but I’ll take a look at round worm. I’m actually on the high dose of 2 tablets for 3 days as one tablet doesn’t work for me. I can now confirm no worms were on me last night and the itching has stopped TF. My DD won’t let me check her - she’s 10 and said it was ‘suss’ so I am assuming she is clear too. So 3 days before the fuckers die with my high strength dose.

Okay not round worm - just checked. Yes @BeansAndNoodles I have washed all bedding, nail brushes now used, washing my bedding PJs every day. We had scabies earlier this year - pretty much had to dust sheet my flat and live in an isolation tank for three months. This feel light work 😂BUT the seeing them and feeling them is so gross. Thanks both.
