Would you say my DD’s neck could be a sign of hyperthyroidism?

She also suffers consistently with constipation…

They wouldn’t have neck rolls like that if they were hyperthyroid!!

I think OP means hypothyroid as she's mentioned constipation but no this looks like a normal neck.

Coming back on this thread, now my daughter is a little older and I think I will make an appointment - My DD is constantly constipated… which is a sign but also… I think there is a lower bulge in her neck?

Anyone have experiences of this or has similar that found no hypothyroidism?

I think that regardless of the possible or possibly not neck bulge you should make an appointment to get movicol so that she is not constantly constipated. You can then mention your concerns.

@MummaSomething if your daughter does have hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid)there is a chance it could be a goitre. (Lump in neck). What other symptoms does she have?
The constipation is usually associated with hypothyroidism (under active thyroid).
Best talk to your doctor if any concerns x

She’s been on and off laxatives and I’m pretty sure I’d popped it on the list for hubs to cover off in her two year check but just may make an effort to have the specific bloods done :/

It was a the chubby (though wonderfully cute!) neck but now I think I’m seeing a larger ‘goiter’.. As mentioned I will be getting this checked but it’s more, does it look normal? 🫠

In every other way, her development is actually somewhat advanced I’d say and her growth is totally normal - It’s simply the constipation and the neck that is making me think 🤔

First of all you thought it was hyperthyroidism.

It can't be both.

Also, it's very, very rare for young children to have thyroid anomalies.

Maybe a better overall view?

That’s interesting - as my DM has a goitre and hyperthyroidism.

We have a family history of thyroid disease, over and under active.
when I explained to the gp that I was concerned my son was showing symptoms they were very happy to do a blood test to confirm (it was negative)
