Can i ask for a different flavour medicine? Or would that be taking the mick and single handedly destroying the nhs?

My 12 year old (who has learning disabilities) has been prescribed antibiotics and they taste awful. He's got to have them 4 times a day for 7 days.

You can ask but depending on the medication there may not be an effective alternative. Some infections need a specific antibiotic.

is a tablet an option? Ds is awful with liquid meds but thankfully has taken tablets from a young age.

if they don't taste too good, just tell him to swallow with a glug of a sweet drink or something - even milk will take away the taste. Or try a spoonful of sugar (makes the medicine go down) lol

If it’s flucloxicillin then there’s no point, they’re all disgusting. I had the capsule once for one of my DC and emptied it out into some chocolate spread as an alternative.

They may not do it in another flavour but it’s worth asking. I had to do it once, DD was 3 they were orange flavour apparently but I tried a dab after she point blank refused and I guarantee no orange has ever tasted that revolting, it actually felt like it was burning my mouth.

Given there was no way she would take it, I figured getting a different flavour was the best choice, had to go back to the Dr though because I ended up needing a prescription for a different antibiotic altogether as that one only came in orange.
