Flu and hives

Hi

My son age 8 has had the 'flu' over the course of last week but then woke up with hives all over his body from his head down to his feet, some bigger than my hand.
He is ok within himself and the rash isnt bothering him, contacted 111 and they said if he is not getting worse to just run its course and they would call back in 2 hours to check on him.
The doctors dont have an appointment until tomorrow, so I was thinking of visiting the pharmacist but unsure if they could help.

have you given aantihistamine?

Viruses can often cause a rash, I would keep an eye on him and particularly watch his breathing. If you can count the number of breaths he takes in a minute, its good information to give 111 when they call back..do the count every couple of hours. Also take his temp and keep an eye on that.
