Sore throat and now diarrhoea

My son has had a sore throat since Friday. GP today and he has white spots and thinks it viral. Painkillers have not been helping, also started using a throat spray today on GP advice. So no antibiotics.
Told if he has a fever and red throat then he will need them.

This evening, he has got very bad diarrhea.

Doesn't seem to have a temperature.

Any ideas what this could be? I absolutely hate seeing my children Ill and I don't know what to do.

The covid virus' have a wide range of symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea

My son has had this; a week and a bit awful head cold with sore throat, cough and then finished with D&V. It’s absolutely rife where I live (SW) and I think I’m coming down with it too

Oh no, oddly he doesn't have any other symptoms. I guess it presents differently in people.

It’s winter viruses. I work on a children’s ward and we’re full of it. It’s just the time of year.

A sore throat without a cough cold and stomach pains/upset can be strep a. Go back to doctors if no improvement

Thanks everyone. Turns out it's infected from a food he ate and scratched his throat. On antibiotics now.
