Hello- I'm very new to posting and just looking for some experiences regarding recovery form pneumonia.

We've had very traumatic few weeks. My son, who is 3 was admitted to hospital 4 /5 weeks ago with RSV and secondary bronchitis. He developed a cold 3 weeks later that progressed to a worse cough multiple GPs and one a&e DR all diagnosed croup and he ended up having 3 doses of steroids in all which did not work. I took him back to a&e on Saturday and refused to leave without bloods and antibiotics x-ray as my son was unresponsive, low oxagen, raging temp and tachycardia. Bloods showed very high WBC count and x-ray showed lobar pnemonia (consolidation at the bottom of left lung).

He has been prescribed amoxicillin and we are on day 3. His energy levels are good. He's eating and drinking but the relentless cough is still there. Oxagen is 96 and heart rate normal. I was wondering if anyone has experiences pnemonia in little ones and what was recovery like for them?

TIA x

Does he still have a temperature?

Similar happened to us and the hospital said to see gp if DS wasn’t better after 3 days of amoxicillin. He was a bit better but not right and still had a temperature. Took him to gp at day 5 and he ended up being admitted for iv antibiotics.

Basically my advice is take him for a gp appt if you’re in any doubt.
