CMPA - Nutramigen reviews

Recently my 5 month old started to have these vicious eczema attacks which got so serious I ended up in A&E with him this week as he looked like he had been burned by a torch with yellow fluid oozing out constantly. The dr said it had to be an allergy and asked gp to prescribe hydrolysed formula. Spoke to gp who said use a steroid cream to let it heal then see if it comes back and if it does then use the new formula which he prescribed so I had it ready. Didn’t use the steroid cream as started to heal sooo well after I had doused him in the emollient hosp prescribed and had also been on antibiotics for a few days so really cleared up. Now every bottle he is having this patchy red rash appear around his mouth so more than likely it is cmpa. Been to the chemist and they have ordered in the nutramigen for me to collect tomorrow but I am so worried now after seeing so many mixed reviews about it! I’m going on holiday next Friday so I’m not sure if I should start it now and see how he goes or wait till I come back should I just go for it?

Honestly every baby is different but in my experience, nutramigen was the first milk that was prescribed by go, she screamed for 24 hours non stop before I put her back on aptamil as even though I knew she was allergic she wasn’t screaming 24/7, my mistake there was doing that as I then didn’t go back to the gp for a few more weeks as I was scared of doing that to her again, the gp explained that nutramigen is the first step as (I can’t remember exactly) but is not completely cows milk protein free, she was then prescribed sma alfamino and worked almost instantly. Don’t let it put you off as it works for some babies it all depends how they react, just know if symptoms worsen then go back to the go
