muscle twitches/tics while asleep

Hello, have you ever noticed gentle muscle twitches/tics in your children right after they fall asleep? Until now I always took it as a sign that my daughter had fallen asleep (I put her to sleep by reading or singing), but it’s been on my mind whether other kids do this too. She’s almost 3 years old.

It looks like this: for example, her leg jerks, then there’s a 20–30 second pause, then her arm, then a 10–20–30 second pause, then her fingers, pause, then again the same arm, for example in the shoulder, etc. Sometimes there’s less of it, other times, like yesterday during her nap, it lasted for about 5 minutes. There are always pauses and she sleeps peacefully.

It’s not a typical hypnic jerk like in adults, and she doesn’t wake up. If I wasn’t right next to her, I wouldn’t even notice it.

Please write to me. Thank you
