Hi all, my DD12 took unwell at school Monday coughing really bad. They refused to give her the flu spray that day because of this (rightly so) I took her to the doctor Wednesday and he said she had flu which she did he gave her a steroid inhaler as she has a really bad cough and I mean like non stop she’s sore, tired and keeps gagging aswell. She’s been taking the inhaler, I’ve tried everything legit everything. It is not getting any better if not worse and I am unsure what to do. She felt a bit dizzy earlier with a headache and went to lie down. She’s had her dinner and coughed it all back up. Am I not letting the inhaler kick in? I don’t wanna waste NHS resources but I’m considering phoning 111 tomorrow. She’s getting really upset now with it.

Are you familiar with the symptoms of whooping cough? Could it be this?

Lookingforthejoy · 29/11/2025 20:03

Have you tried a humidifier?

I’ve tried the humidifier we have been using one for the past few days. I don’t know anyone with the pulse thing I could ask my neighbour she used to be a nurse and has heard my daughter coughing through the wall. And no not familiar with whooping cough symptoms but I’ll have a look now thank you 🫶🏻🫶🏻
