Does this look like Scarlett fever?

My little girl came down with a temp and mild viral rash on Friday. I thought it was her teeth due to having lose nappies and she does struggle with temps when teething. Today the viral rash is still there all over her torso, down her legs and arms. It doesn’t feel rough.

She has also come up in hives which have gone down, reappeared and repeat. She has had piriton and at the walk in today the paramedic couldn’t see any evidence of a sore throat or ear infection etc. The hives isn’t new for her and I am wondering if she has an allergy which I am going down the route of testing her for.

She is her normal self really eating drinking etc just more tired.

so does this look viral or more scarlet fever like? She has an OOH appt later tonight I am just panicking like mad. Thank you

Strawberry tongue is specific to scarlet fever. It’s often really hard to tell from a rash what something is in small children. Mine had bloods taken because the OOH doctor was unable to diagnose but the strawberry tongue appeared before all the blood results were in.

When my dd had it she didn’t have the strawberry tongue but had the sandpaper rash all over her torso. But it was just a case of antibiotics, and she was already on the mend by the time it was diagnosed. I’m sure they’ll help at your appt, she’ll be in safe hands.

When my DD had scarlet fever she had a sandpaper rash that looked more like sunburn than individual spots, she was also very poorly with a high 41C plus temp. She didn’t have a strawberry tongue but did have a sore red throat.
I’d say your DDs rash looks more viral. Hope she’s feeling better soon

Did the rash start on her face then her body turned like that? If so I’d say it’s slapped cheek syndrome, based on the look of that rash.

They suspect my son has this too
they took a swab today and gave him penicillin
he has infected tonsils and weird rash in his chest but not red just rough to feel.
he always has Covid which I think he has all week.
