GROUP STREP B

My 11 month old has just had a swab that’s came back positive for Strep B. The doctor said it’s very unusual that a baby of his age has tested positive as it’s normally newborns who contract it. It took them a week to get the results back and I’m worrying myself sick now as he’s been so poorly for the past week. I don’t want to panic as he’s on antibiotics but I’m just so confused as to how he’s got it. I tested positive for it in my third pregnancy, they didn’t treat me for it though as I had an ECS. Obviously I know he’s not caught it from me as the risk would have been at birth. Have I passed it on through close contact though later on in his life? I don’t even know what it is as I’ve never heard of it until I tested positive for it a year ago. They just left me, but I do know it can be life threatening in kids if it’s not dealt with quickly
