Sinus pain

DD 14 had endless sinus pain. She’s seen ENT and there is nothing to see, no rhinitis, no swelling etc etc. Apparently her nose is beautiful! One suggestion is that it might be nerve pain, rather than sinus pain in her face and we’re waiting for a physio appointment. Has anyone else come across this before and have you got any suggestions

Worth seeing a dentist too to discuss it.

May also be worth considering it as facial pain rather than specifically sinus pain in case that’s inadvertently misleading things.

If it is sinus, steaming head and / or sinus rinsing can make a huge difference.

@ScaryM0nster we did think it might ease up after dental extractions, but it hasn’t. She sees an ortho and regular dentist about every 6 weeks and nothing's shown up. We also tried steaming but there’s nothing to shift, iyswim. Good calls and thanks for commenting, though. I do think facial pain is more likely, though

Is she having ortho work done?

Does it relate to that at all?

At the risk of stating the obvious, has she had the ‘I’m in pain’ discussion with the orthodontist and regular dentist? On a regular visit they’ll check for dental health, but not necessarily try and troubleshoot or identify wider issues that could be causing symptoms if they’re not aware of it.

Thanks - we’re going to have that discussion next week.
it does seem worse when she is tired and cold.

It might be worth sinus rinsing. If nothing else, if it makes absolutely no difference then it’s unlikely to be sinus related and it helps cross that off the list.

Most pain is more noticed when tired unfortunately.

Pain diaries can help with pinning things down. Facial pain during orthodontic work isn’t unusual.

Have they checked as far as the sphenoid sinus?

No. Just googled where that is and presumably checking that would involve tubes rather than a light up the nose, so I’m confident that’s not been done. I feel quite ignorant about this, but could that present as pain but no other issue (runny nose etc etc)?

Yes. It feels like sinus pain but without those symptoms. It can be identified with an Xray.
