Fly nasal spray?

How many of you consent to your child having the flu nasal spray? And why?

DS age 8 has had it the last 3 years at school but last year was nothing but poorly for weeks after with chest and ear infections coughs colds etc.

DP says we never had flu vaccines or nasal sprays when we were growing up so doesn’t want to consent to DS having it this winter.

I don’t know what to do!
We aren't anti vaxers by any means, DS has had all childhood vaccines upto date (no Covid!) but DP has shown me videos and articles lately about flu sprays and side effects in children.

Any input greatly appreciated thank you!

I feel the same way, they have every other vaccine but they never seem to know which strain of flu we’ll get!

My kids have never had it.

Hurumphh · 04/11/2025 22:14

Never had any side effects here at all.

Mine have never had flu. Never had any nasal spray. Might as well continue as is

The flu spray/vaccine does not stop someone getting colds, it helps the body fight off the current flu virus if they get infected.

I don’t understand your comment about your son being ill for weeks after the vaccine. Are you saying that the vaccine didn’t help because he got ill with things the vaccine isn’t supposed to prevent anyway? Or are you saying you think the vaccine caused those illnesses?

63 children under 18 died of influenza in England last year. It's actually more dangerous in children that we think - certainly more than COVID.

I'm getting the flu nasal vaccine for my toddler as soon as eligible.
