Should I stop antibiotics

DS was poorly with high temp 40.2 and sore throat early hours Friday morning. Went doctors and she said throat is inflamed but no puss so may well be viral but gave antibiotics. By Saturday he had spots round his mouth and I thought he most likely had hand foot and mouth rather than tonsillitis. On Monday nursery sends an email to say they have a confirmed HFM case in DS class so I’m pretty certain that’s what he has. He also has some spots on his hands and feet, faint but rashy.

my question is should I stop the antibiotics as doctor thought viral anyway and I now think HFM too. I don’t want to keep giving him antibiotics unnecessarily but also know you’re supposed to finish course. Anyone advise?

I'd continue the course. DD has just had HFM and the virus weakened her immune system and she got a chest/throat infection. Antibiotics cleared it right up.
