4YO tooth extraction :(

4yo DC hit mouth against a bus window a few months ago, cried a lot at the time but didn't bruise and I thought nothing of it. Now an abscess has formed above the tooth and dentist has confirmed the nerve has died and they will need it extracted :(

Any experience or advice welcome. I feel awful. Dentist said the referral could take between 6-9 months, in which time the big tooth will hopefully not be affected.

Has the abscess cleared? Hopefully it won't take as long as that but if little one isn't in pain i don't see what the problem is with waiting?

@FullOfMomsense They are on antibiotics. Dentist said it should clear the infection but the swelling will remain over the tooth, and since the nerve is dead it is high risk for recurring infection which could affect the big tooth as the infection is up against it
