Pulmonary stenosis and feeding

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with pulmonary stenosis and a possible impact on feeding in newborn. especially after the balloon procedure.

Was your child’s feeding/weight gain impacted? How did you deal with it and what were the long term outcomes (are they impacted by their condition?)

My daughter had a pulmonary stenosis and had the balloon procedure twice. I don't think it really had any impact on her feeding, but she did seem to have more wind after but think that was more the anesthetic.
She is not impacted by the condition at all, she just has to have check ups every so many years. She is now 10.
Has your child had the operation yet? How old are they?
My DD had her first op when she was 3 weeks and it was repeated at 4 months as they wanted to stretch the valve a bit more. Since then it has stayed fine, although not been for a checkup for years.

Thank you for sharing and great to hear your child has been fine ever since!

my son had the balloon procedure at 3 weeks as well and he is now 6 weeks. He’s been quite sleepy since birth and we’ve struggled with weight gain. The cardiologist has said she doesn’t think it’s the heart that’s impacting on the feeding, but it’s hard to know i suppose without any reference, especially as he does seem more awake and alert since the procedure.

have you noticed anything with your child struggling to clear colds? My son has been congested since he was 1 week and seems to struggle to move past it. Might be totally unrelated but it’s difficult to not worry about his heart.

She didn't gain weight very fast as a baby but not sure that was to do with the heart as she has always been quite small and slim.
The colds are probably nothing to do with his heart and just part of been a baby and picking bugs up. Yes it is hard not to worry.
Try not to worry, my daughter is very fit and healthy and her heart is fine. Not sure if there will be any issues later in life but so far everything is good.
