Hi all,
Looking for advice or similar experiences.
My 3 year old DD (August baby) seems to be regressing.
She stopped breastfeeding around her 3rd birthday (did not intend to go on that long and was only bed time feeds the last 9 months or so) since then she puts anything and everything in her mouth and if there's nothing to put in her mouth she just sucks her fingers. She's constantly sick because of it and tonight she got a wooden building block wedged between her teeth and was screaming. We got it out and I don't think it did any damage to her teeth and even though it scared her, I know she will be back to doing the same thing tomorrow. She does say her teeth hurt a lot, but I'm not sure if she is just saying it as she always says she's sick and has red spots on her face and obviously doesn't. She's had a recent check at GDP and all fine, however I have since noticed it looks like she has hypomineralisation of her enamel (upper four incisors only) and am getting her checked by a paeds dentist, again I don't think she would be complaining of pain though with this and when I ask which teeth hurt she says her canines which are very pointy even for canines and she loves to rub her fingers against them really hard and leave dents (like she enjoys the pain!)
She has also completely back tracked with her potty training, whilst has never been great, loads of accidents, she now just point blank refuses to go on it or the toilet and would rather wet herself so is back in a pull up which I know isn't great but she would literally wet herself 5 times a day if she wanted right now.
She is also referring to herself as a baby and using baby talk constantly. It's almost like she doesn't want to get any older.
She loves numbers and counting and can recognise some of her alphabet but used to be able to recognise the whole of it. She isn't interested in colouring or anything like that. (opposite of my eldest)
Her vocabulary is quite good but it's sometimes difficult to understand certain words but generally she's good.
The other things she does is constantly taps her fingers against herself (when they're not in her mouth) or against me or toys. Also will sometimes zone out completely.
Am I looking into all this too much. I am not sure how young children are diagnosed with sensory issues to be honest as I've had no experience of it but I feel like it could be some kind of sensory processing issue?
TIA
