Is it normal for a 5 year old to get a cough but no other symptoms ? Like a viral cough? He has no temp, not off food , ok in himself and no other symptoms - he’s currently on antibiotics for an ear infection which is her recurrently but that’s not showing him any symptoms anymore so I don’t think that’s contributing 🤷🏻‍♀️ change in weather maybe as it’s got a lot colder ? Or just a virus?

It could be childhood asthma. My son has it, and it definitely flares up at this time of year when it's cold and windy outside and the heating is on indoors. Using a preventer inhaler keeps it really well controlled.

It could also be allergies - dog hair triggers the asthma cough for DS.

It could also just be a standard cough - plenty going around at the minute!
