11 days of diarrhoea

Hello!

My 10 week old had her first set of vaccines 11 days ago and has had severe diarrhoea every day since. It’s like yellow water. I took her to the doctors on day 7 and he said that she’s not dehydrated so she’s fine. On Friday I took her to hospital and they did a blood test and everything came back fine, again confirmed she’s gaining weight and not dehydrated. We are waiting on poo sample results.

Has anyone else had this? What do I do? She’s got such bad nappy rash because she’s always wet in her nappy from the runny poo. I will change her and within 5 mins there’s more poo.

It's almost certainly the rotavirus vaccine. Some children get very bad upset stomachs from it.

My DC was vaccinated and caught rotavirus at nursery - projectile vomiting and diarrhoea for four days but no need for A&E. I then caught rotavirus from DC and it was so bad I thought I was going to call 111 or get my DP home from work to take me to A&E. I gradually recovered over 48h.

Basically, vaccine rotavirus can be very unpleasant for some babies; you are doing right thing by going back to the GP/hospital and getting a stool test. But even this - if it's vaccine rotavirus - is probably still better than the real thing! I didn't think anything as an adult was worse than noro but rota is far worse.
