Tonsillectomy experiences

Hello, we've had a referral done for a Tonsillectomy and funding approved, but have decided to do it under our private healthcare, initial consultant appointment on Friday, DD is 3 and has had sleep apnea since she was a baby and enlarged tonsils, really loud snoring and soaks her tops in dribble, hence why we've got to this point. Wondered if anyone else had their child's tonsils removed at a similar age, not sure how to explain it to her or how much she needs to know. If your child had this done, what was the recovery like and how were they about being in hospital? I know I can ask the consultant this, but wanted to hear about personal experiences

My daughter had her tonsils out the day after her 4 th birthday. She had been prescribed over 20courses of ABs ,sore face from constant dribbling, very underweight,,,you get the drift a!
We have never regretted the decision . The difference in her health was incredible within weeks . I just felt angry that we had to wait until she was 4 which were theNHS guidelines in late 1990s.
