Veruccas!!!!

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 10/10/2025 20:33

Son has had two veruccas since beginning of July and I can't seem to get rid of them 🙈🙈

Weve tried bazucca (file every night and apply new layer) and dark nail varnish. I thought last week they were clearing up after i managed to pull a small chunk out but they actually seem to be worse!

Just tried booking online GP appointment for next week and the website is playing up so thought id ask for help on here for over the weekend!

Please help with these little monsters!!!! Ive since filed away some of the white skin.

They will go eventually even though it doesn't seem like it. We filed and reapplied salicyclic acid every day for about 6 months before we got rid of DS's verrucas. Consistency is key.

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 10/10/2025 20:40

Driving me mad honestly!! Son is autistic and has sensory processing difficulties so filing them each night hasnt been the easiest process.

We got shot of my daughters by going to GP and having them frozen off. Took a few goes though. And I think it did hurt at times but she'd had enough of them and braved it

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 10/10/2025 20:45

I shall give this a try thank you!! Hopefully it wont come off as it's on the side of his toe, I am willing to try anything he will allow me too though!
Swimming lessons start soon and I dont want him to be judged as the kid wearing verruca socks and from a dirty family!

Ive been trying to avoid the doctors as I thought they'd do this and it be painful for him especially with his spd. If the duct tape doesn't work though I will have to take him to the GP.
I have been trying to make an appointment (called today and they said go online) online but the site just wont work.

Swim England advises against verruca socks now.

You will be lucky if your Doctors still offers this, some must do as per previous poster but most have stopped offering it and just prescribe salicyclic acid and tell you they will go away eventually. You can go to a private chiropodist though.

Oh do they? I shall ask the teacher again then as she said to wear a sock.

I work in a gp surgery and we do freezing, however, the tape works just as well as long as you do it exactly how it states.

Oldermumofone · 10/10/2025 21:40

Scholl Verruca and wart pen with tape over worked really quickly.

TheSixthBestOption · 10/10/2025 21:42

You can buy the freezing pens from somewhere like Boots or Superdrug and do it yourself.

Ladybaga · 10/10/2025 21:44

I literally can't recommend this from superdrug enough https://www.superdrug.com/health/foot-care/verruca-and-wart-treatment/c/pt_health_verruca_&_wart_treatment worked a treat on my DD's foot. Very reasonably priced two as they are normally on offer so buy 2 boxes at once. Took about 10 days and hers were gone. I remember my mum taking me to get mine frozen and cut when I was a kid. Wish she had just used this instead!

Thank you so much everybody for all of your advice!!
I think i shall use a combination of a freeze treatment pen and the duct tape, hopefully a double whammy will finally get rid of them!!!🤞

Just an update!!

Been using bazucca every night since July and the two little buggers have been getting worse!

Just a few days of duct tape and one has come off tonight!! I am ecstatic! I cant believe that duct tape has actually worked and in only a few days! I have had to reapply each night and wrapped a plaster around it, i am over the moon! Hopefully not too long for the second one to come off 🤞

Thank you all so much and especially to @Rhubarbandgooseburycrumble who recommended the tape.

Duct tape then put a plaster over the top. I've just done it and 2/3 have fallen off after 4 days, so I've covered the other up again

Ineedanightaway · 15/10/2025 21:11

Oops just seen your update, but that's fab news!

Rhubarbandgooseburycrumble · 15/10/2025 21:42

At glad it’s worked. 😊
