Hello so I'd like to put this here before I start I am take my child to the ER.
Today I noticed a white round spot on his tongue I am scared it herpes. Can anyone else tell me how to prepare my child for the heck his life is about to be?
I am upset he is the most beautiful child ever and now he is dealing with this and it's my fault.

Hsv (cold sores) on the tongue would be unusual. It‘s generally around the lips and nose.

more likely to be a small ulcer I would have thought.

are you in the uk? As you say ER…. Please don’t take your child to a&e/er for either an ulcer or a cold sore, a pharmacist/GP is more appropriate. It is neither an accident nor an emergency.

even if it is a cold sore it’s no big deal. You just need to make him aware of his hygiene during an outbreak- no touching, washing hands, sharing towels. Otherwise it makes no bugger difference to life. I’ve had them as long as I remember and it impacts my life not one bit. I have better things to worry about.

Even it it were herpes (and I doubt it is being on the tongue) it’s really no big deal. More of a problem of genital but on the mouth is fairly common.
