What is this rash?

Hi all,

My toddler has just come home from nursery with this rash but exclusively on her left arm. She’s absolutely fine in herself, no temperature etc.

Any ideas what it might be? I’m desperately hoping it’s not chicken pox…

What is this rash?

Does it disappear when you roll a glass over it?
it looks a bit like it might not.

It doesn’t disappear, no. It’s making me nervous as I know that’s a meningitis sign, but everything else about her is fine.

That also looks a bit worrying to me. I’ve never seen a meningitis rash first hand but this is how I believe it starts. Obviously not wanting to panic you but I can see you are already aware of that. I think I’d be watching like a hawk to see if it changes or if she develops any other symptoms. Hopefully it is nothing and disappears soon.

It also looks a bit worrying to me too, has it spread since she got home?

We’re currently waiting to be seen in hospital - will update once we’ve been seen.

All fine. There were concerns it might be linked to a low platelet count (I believe it’s called ITP?) but her platelet count came back as OK. Most likely viral rash, but we’ve been told to monitor for patterns etc. Thanks to those who encouraged a hospital visit - it was definitely the right move.

That’s strange bevause ITP was what I had in mind. I’m glad it isn’t that or anything serious, and I hope your toddler is back to normal soon.

If it's predominantly legs, it looks a bit like an HSP rash to me. Hopefully not but keep an eye on it.
