Movicol causing reflux for my child

My child started reflux yesterday and he keeps chocking and then he burps after the choke episode. It happens within the few hours after his drinking movicol/macrogel.
He takes 1.5 sachets.
he was in another laxatives and started movicol yesterday and reflux started with the movicol.
I will definitely contact his consultant Monday but wondering anyone has same side effect ?

No but my child was on it for around 6 years and I’m sure it caused bloating. Unfortunately she had to deal with the bloating because she couldn’t not be on the movicol. But now she’s finally off it, she is much less bloated so it had to be the medicine

He had it before when he was younger with no ill effect I am not sure what changed now ? Unless he is impacted

I have to watch that I don’t give my DD movicol too close to bed time because she’s been sick in the past…almost like she’s had too much in her tummy if you see what I mean. Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of taking macrogol laxatives!

If he’s ‘full’ then the gas/bloating has no where to go but up. All laxatives can cause acid reflux.

If you can, continue with movicol because that should clear him out and therefore prevent reflux.
