DD heart rate 145

Ruby41 · 04/09/2025 20:06

DD 12 has started to feel hot in the last hour or so and breathless when walking around. Her temp is 37.7 even in shorts and top. I have a finger probe to check oxygen and hear levels. When she is sat still its moving between 95 and 118 and when she moves like to the loo and back its going to 145 and making her feel breathless. Its come on out of the blue. She was fine earlier at gymnastics training

Have you contacted a doctor?

Thortour · 04/09/2025 20:08

Your heart rate goes up when you’re unwell. It’s your body working hard to combat whatever is wrong with you.

Ruby41 · 04/09/2025 20:27

We have called 111. We know it goes quciker but thought thats quick

Sounds like she needs checking out. That isn't much of a temperature, to drive that high a heart rate. This is something that I would absolutely want checking out face to face by a health care professional. One of the first lessons I always tell our junior doctors and students is to beware a disproportionately high heart rate, as it can mean something serious is going on.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 04/09/2025 20:51

Is her heart rate still high now?

Ruby41 · 04/09/2025 21:04

Yes it’s still very quick. 111 send the paramedics they are going to take her to hospital something on her heart tracing appears different to what it should be. She’s not hot anymore they said her temperature is 37.2

I’m glad she’s being seen. Keep us updated and I hope everything is ok x

mynameiscalypso · 04/09/2025 21:18

I was going to say that this sounds like a hospital trip to me so I’m glad to see you’re on your way. How worrying for you all and I’m sure she’s in good hands now.

Jerrypicker · 04/09/2025 21:23

Hopefully it’s just some hormonal surge, as based on her age she is reaching puberty.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/09/2025 21:26

Hopefully it's just a mild infection.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/09/2025 08:54

How's your DD now @Ruby41

Superscientist · 05/09/2025 16:35

I had labyrinthitis once and that sent my resting heart rate to 160! I had a bunch of tests and no causes was found. Once the labyrinthitis improved my heart rate dropped back to normal.

Ruby41 · 05/09/2025 22:07

So sorry for not updating sooner. We got home from the hospital about 4 pm, and both had a good sleep as soon as we got back. She has been referred to cardiology for cardiac arrhythmia, with her maybe having POTS, I think they said. Her blood came back okay, and her urine test showed something, but not an infection. It took a long time to get her heart rate down. She spent all night hooked up to a beeping machine, so we are glad to hopefully get sleep tonight. But would rather her be sorted than have sleep.

Oh goodness. I’m glad they’ve thoroughly checked her, hope you have a peaceful weekend x

nocoolnamesleft · 05/09/2025 23:28

Glad to hear that she was checked out thoroughly.

BollyKnickerz · 05/09/2025 23:30

Could be SVT. Common to unmask in later childhood. Probably triggered by an infection. a&E would be a suitable call. Often quickly fixed and fairly benign in the grand scheme of things but will likely need outpatient follow up.

Ruby41 · 08/09/2025 20:25

I'm not sure what it is. Tonight, she collapsed, wet herself, and when the ambulance came, her heart rate was 154. We are back in A&E in the high dependency suite, and she is connected to the cardiac monitor again. We are waiting for a ct scan and an xray of her arm which I think is broken. The doctor who say us when we came in said they think it might be pots

Oh bless her. I hope you can get some answers.

CheeriosOrFrosties · 08/09/2025 20:28

Poor love. I hope she is ok, and you too

familyissues12345 · 08/09/2025 22:27

Oh gosh, how frightening. She’s in the right place x

CheeriosOrFrosties · 13/09/2025 22:27

How is she doing @Ruby41 ?

Starlight7080 · 13/09/2025 22:32

Hope you have found out what it is. That sounds very scary for you all

Beansandcheesearegood · 13/09/2025 22:33

Ah thinking of you, hope shes OK?

Ruby41 · 14/09/2025 13:00

She’s doing okay exhausted though. The A&E doctor thought it might be POTS but they said that she needs more tests to say

she collapsed again in the shower this morning so is losing her independence with how often this keeps happening. She’s really hurt her hip and ankle this morning just been for xray but it’s soft tissue
