Cot bed nightmare sleep!

Hi, I’m new here but really after some help.

We have had to transition my 21 month old to a cot bed. He was completely climbing out of his lowest setting etc (he’s always been big and fairly advanced in moving and a climber)

we know we have no choice as it’s dangerous but he slept so well in his cot! Even when he started climbing out it was only when he was fully awake in the morning or naps but still not ideal as he couldn’t get back in.

Since transferring a month ago my child who has always been a great sleeper (a few bumps but nothing like this) just will not sleep!
He has one nap a day and it’s now a fight but he clearly needs it and he always slept 8 until 8 (sometimes 7:30) now he gets up multiple times before going to sleep and early in the morning but the worst part is he’s often up for hours and hours in the night.

Last night as an example he woke at 3am and after trying everything I eventually had to give him some milk at half 6 (he tries to go back to bed sometimes but can never seem to go back to sleep) I really don’t want him to rely on milk in the night now but it’s the only thing that seems to work. He eats plenty so I have no idea why this is.

honestly any help is appreciated.

thank you!

Hi, did you eventually get him to sleep in his bed? I'm in the same situation. Now my daughter is in her big bed she wakes every 30-60 minutes looking for me. She's always been a great sleeper.and now just won't sleep. I'm exhausted!
