Hair braid worry!

Firstly, apologies because this is a rather a stretch for the "children's health" forum but I didn't know where else it should be...!

DD got a single hair braid on holiday 3 weeks ago - one of those with thread wrapped around and beads on the end. I just googled to see how long they last and how to remove it, and came across a Mumsnet thread saying lots of kids had experienced this type of braid damaging the hair and leaving a bald patch! DD has very fine, weak hair as it is so now I'm a bit concerned. Is it normal for a braid of this type to pull the hair out? Should I remove it now, and if so how??

Thanks in advance x

The place I used to get my dad's hair done did warn about this. It didn't happen to their hair but they have very think hair.

Remember when you do take it out it will seem like a lot of hair comes out because the hair you would naturally lose every day will be stuck in the braid.

DD's used to get a braid every summer - just the one - probs each had it done about 5-6 times
Is it the sort with a thread and beads etc?
I just undid it carefully and no problems at all. Both have fine thin hair

My daughter kept hers for about 2 months, I just cut the thread and unravelled it then. No bald patch!

Thank you all x
