DS 8 banged head on death slide

He went down a death slide and banged the back of his head half way down on the slide, I didn’t see it happen as I was at the bottom waiting for him to come out into the foam pit.
He seems fine he cried as it was a shock, but I have terrible health anxiety and actually read a story on Facebook the other day of a child who fell running in the playground and hit the front of his head, went home and didn’t wake up from sleep as had a bleed on the brain.

I feel sick with worry, I know it’s my anxiety taking over as he’s fine but the fact I didn’t see him hit his head makes it worse although he says it wasn’t really hard.

Someone talk me down 😫

He'll be fine

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 24/08/2025 13:15

Keep a close eye on him. If he appears drowsy for no reason then ring 101. If he sleeps keep him near so you can keep a close eye on him. Kids hit their heads all the time so it's got to be vigilant but try not to worry too much.

Death slide? As in a big drop slide in a soft play?

Those things are made of fibreglass. If he had flew off a bike travelling 20mph into a brick wall I’d be concerned.

Everything in this country is health and safety to the max. The slightest risk of a bleed on the brain and they’d make them wear helmets.

A quick ruffle of his hair and telling him he’ll be fine is all he needs.

What is a death slide?

redgingerbread · 24/08/2025 14:37

wtf is a death slide??

Tiswa · 24/08/2025 14:52

I have anxiety too and DD has suffered concussion twice! Just look at the NHS guidelines and follow them.

But it doesn’t sound like something to worry about

TartanBarmy · 24/08/2025 14:54

You mean like a zip wire thing?

user1478188491 · 24/08/2025 15:05

Sorry for those who may not know this is a death slide, as a previous poster said they are made of fibre glass and kids slide down them but they are almost vertical from the top part
