Cold sore

Mums that get cold sores... so I've been cuddling the babies and having them close to my face as I'm the one that mostly does everything for them. I've just noticed a buring sensation on my bottom lip! I haven't had a cold sore since I was about 7 years old and I'm not 100% sure it is one as I can feel a little bump where it's sore. It would make sense if I have one as I've been sleep deprived and I'm run down. I also have a bit of a sore throat as well. What can I do to stop it spreading to the girls and that's if it hasn't already. How would I know if they caught it? They're 8 weeks old😫

I recommend coldsore patches and acyclovir tablets and cream to help reduce the coldsore. The patches will also prevent the infected area from touching anything that might come into contact with your babies.

I grew up with terrible cold sores and one of the things I’m proudest of is that I haven’t passed them on to my now adult children. I literally kept them at arms length for the duration of any sores. I had them so bad growing up, massive swelling and blisters there was no way I was risking it.
