Child needs operation-any advice

My child has been diagnosed with venopharangeal dysfunction and waiting for a consult with the cleft team and will need surgery. She has speech problems. Has anyone got any experience of this?

Not that particular surgery but i have a 12 year old who was born with a cleft lip/palate/gum notch.
