Residential when taking antibiotics

10 year old DD had tonsillitis 3 weeks ago. Given a 10 day course of antibiotics which she finished a week ago, recovered well.
Yesterday tonsils swollen again, high temp etc and out of hours Dr has given another dose of 10 day antibiotics.

Problem is, she has an adventure weekend planned for this weekend with a group that she attends. In my experience of the last bout, she recovered well within two days and was back to her old self.
Whether the activity centre are happy to store and administer the antibiotics is another question..
but if they would do this, would you still send your DD to a 2 night residential if she has recovered well again? She has been looking forward to it and we booked her on to it during the last bout of illness as something to look forward to.
Obviously, is she hasn’t recovered well, no question she would stay home.
residential is 10 minute drive down the road so local.

what to do?!

Yes, if she's well in herself and the centre can deal with the drugs, I'd send her. TBH, if it's only 10mins away, I go to administer them myself if needed.

If she feels up to it then send her its just the weekend and 5/6 days is ages away if you are on antibiotics she might be loads better,

Yes - they should be used to dealing with medication. You will probably need to complete a form with instructions/permission and they will need them in the original packaging with her name on the pharmacy label.

I did think that I could pop down to give them to her.. but as it is activities I would need to chase her around to different locations (and potentially on rivers in the sea etc ha)..
It is 4 times a day. I guess although not ideal, one dose when awake, one dose just as they leave for activity, one dose when they return and one before bed…
might not be spaced out evenly but as it needs to be stored in the fridge it’s not easy to take with them.
Thank you, just needed to check I wasn’t being a pushy parent! She did recover well by 2 days last time and no need for painkillers after 24 hours of taking antibiotics and eating well again. Just need to wait and see I suppose.

Thank you

Check what the rules are with storing and administering medications. There might be forms to fill. Then if it’s all good and she feels well in herself, let her go.
