Reflux or a bug!? 6 weeks old

my LO is 6 weeks old, has had the odd spit up/ vomiting after a bottle since birth, but not consistently. And since yesterday he has been sick every single feed - not just a little bit, full projectile vomit, flying out and LOTS of it. And since he’s started to not want his milk? He was having 3/4oz a bottle every 3hr. Since yesterday i’m getting 1/2oz in him every 3/4 hours and then he’s launching it right back out??? Would we say it’s reflux or a bug? He’s not screaming, upset in himself or anything like that. Passing wind much more which are sometimes ending up being a runny poo, but only 1 of them today and 1 in the night.

I just dont know whether to think right this is reflux surfacing its head or if its a bug and i should be taking him somewhere!? Sorry if this is a silly question i just don’t know what to do.

Hi. Think that sounds like reflux. That's how my baby started and after nearly four months of battles with the gp's he was diagnosed with cmpa. It might not be in your case but keep an eye out x

I’d say that if he’s ok in himself then it’s probably reflux but babies of this age can go downhill quickly and you need to keep a close eye on him. Is he still having lots of wet nappies? Any concern that he’s getting dehydrated or seems lethargic, then seek the advice of a Dr ASAP.

So he was completely refusing all milk and just kept having really watery stools! so brought him to A&E and just waiting. I’m still not sure, but he seems to have brutal wind/belly ache and screams when it comes? again not sure if that’s a symptom of having reflux also?

Could be a bug. Could be CMPI/A. But at that age definitely safer to get checked out. Describing projectile vomiting did make me wonder about pyloric stenosis, but they usually feed ravenously before vomiting, and the poos are usually normal.

They said it was a gastro bug - but obvs they can’t actually do a test for these things so it just goes off symptoms and on paper he has them all besides a temp. His little soft spot started to sink in too which made me panic.
Im going to book a GP appointment in a few days if it carries on as i would then think reflux!
