Toddler Fall/head injury & Sickness

My little girl (22m) had a fall/head injury on Sunday evening from windowsill height. She seemed to land on her front and only bumped her head slightly on the end of the bed where there was a red mark on her eyebrow. It seemed to go down later that night and wasn’t anything there the next morning. I stayed up and observed her all night and she tried to be sick around 6.30am on the Monday so we took her to A&E. She was sick/attempted to be sick around 5-6 times in the space of around 2 hours. They did all the checks which were ok, she was walking around normally and playing and no other concerning symptoms and said the sickness is likely to be shock. But any more sickness then to go back. She was sick later that afternoon a few times but I think it was just from her food as she’d eaten a bit since being home and wasn’t worried. But if she was sick anymore I would take her back to get checked.

The next morning (Tuesday) she woke and was sick around 8am and 10am so took her back to A&E and they monitored her and did obs etc said all were fine and likely a tummy bug and sent us home. She was fine during the day and then sick during the night a few times between 12.30am - 1.30am.

Wednesday - completely fine and no sickness or new symptoms

Thursday - 8.30pm slightly sick and brought up a piece of strawberry

Friday - seems fine today.

I know the first 72 hours have passed which is good and also no other red flag symptoms which is good too. But I’ve been worrying all week about the sickness in which they have said is due to shock/unrelated/tummy bug rather than the fall and worrying they may have missed something.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar with just sickness, I’m struggling to trust that it isn’t related to the head injury and also worrying about any delayed symptoms and how likely this is given it happened on Sunday and it’s now Friday?

How long had it been since she ate the strawberry that she brought some up? Could it just not have gone down fully and was a bit stuck in her throat?

It doesn't really sound like she's been sick since Tuesday, as the strawberry piece sounds fairly insignificant- unless there was more to it than you wrote.

She's been seen several times and it sounds like she was thoroughly assessed.

It sounds like she had a simple virus that coincided with a little bang on her head. You did all the right things, but I would feel reassured that she is fine, just recovering from a virus.

It was about an hour after she had her tea/the strawberry. So possibly she hasn’t chewed it properly.

yes she was last sick Wednesday morning around 1.30am so it’s been 2 days bar the strawberry bit.

I just find it hard to be coincidence getting a tummy bug at the same time when she hasn’t had one all year and my gut feel is it is related to her fall and they did say it may be shock originally. But I guess as there’s no other symptoms present, that’s what they think it is.

Could it be that the fall was related to the tummy bug virus? Maybe she was feeling a little off-colour, which caused her to lose her balance more easily?

Obviously I wasn't there, but they may indeed be related, just not in the way you think. Chances are that they are unrelated and just a coincidence, which really isn't rare for toddlers. (I've had 3.)

Obviously keep an eye out for any changes, but apart from the strawberry piece incident, she hasn't apparently been ill for days, so sounds well on the road to recovery/ recovered.

Thank you. No the fall wasn’t in relation to the tummy virus, it was my fault/an accident and then the sickness started about 12 hours later.

positive she has perked up the last few days.

Update: All was ok, must have just been a sick bug that coincided with the fall/bump which caused a lot of worry.
