Delayed tooth eruption!

My son will be 9 in October.

He lost one of his lateral incisors in Sept 2024 and it’s still not grown back (10 months in!)

His dentist said today to give it 3 months and we’ll go for another check up to see what’s what.

He will be referred to the hospital for a head scan and the poor kids terrified 💔
No history of missing teeth so I’m hoping his are just delayed.

I wouldn’t worry too much as he’s still a bit young. Can they not just do a normal periapical radiograoh of this area to see if the tooth is present but unerupted. A “head scan” ( by that I presume an OPT) is a bit excessive unless they suspect other teeth missing too?
the OPT is easy though. Takes about 30 seconds and is external so your child would need to keep his head still, but he won’t need to have anything in his mouth.
personally I’d hold off another year or two, as there’s nothing much to be gained just now

DD has some missing teeth and the scan was totally fine - took no time at all. They’re very good at putting kids at ease!

That’s what she told me, a head scan. But didn’t go into too much detail or what it entailed just that she’ll review in 3 months to see what’s what.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
