Angry looking mole on toddlers face

About six months ago a mole appeared on my toddlers face, he is 3 now. It just appeared out the blue. Other than that we didn’t think k too much of it. Then we recently went to Italy and while away it became very red and angry looking around the perimeter. He had a hat and sun cream on at all times and didn’t burn once so I was surprised at its reaction. 3 weeks on and the red has certainly gone down but it’s still there. It’s just so odd. We went to the doctors today and she wants to send us urgently to a specialist which she says is for peace of mind but now I’m freaking out. Has anyone had anything similar or know about moles. Much appreciated

I'd definitely want that looked at, I'm surprised you didn't get it checked out when it first appeared . It's probably nothing but anything that doesn't heal should be checked out.

Like I say I originally thought it was your standard mole until it started getting angry looking on holiday.

Sun cream contains lots of chemicals so whilst it protects you from sun damage, the chemicals can be an irritant.

it’s possible it was itchy and he rubbed it in his sleep and made it sore and it’s taking awhile to heal.

Yes you’re right. I am actually overly cautious with things like that so, I done my research and purchased an organic sun cream for the holiday. But, either way you could be right as it’s still product consistently added to his face for that entire week. Hopefully it is just irritation. We have our hospital apt on Tuesday. Thanks for your thoughts

My son has a mole on his arm and after coming back from holiday it looked darker and more inflamed. He got referred to dermatology but they said it had just got a bit irritated and was nothing to worry about. Sure it will be fine. I always find putting a bit of sudacrem on this type of thing calms it down.

I’m glad it was nothing serious. Thank you for your message. That helps to ease my mind a bit. Can I ask, how long did it stay red looking for?
