Chickenpox

Oh dear. Toddler DD suddenly has about 10 little spots across her tummy and chest. They weren't there in the morning. I'm fairly suspicious this may be the start of chickenpox.

Looking online I only seem to find horror stories about how awful it is and how poorly kids can be. Just wondering if anybody has some reassuring stories of it maybe not being so absolutely horrendous? Any top tips for things we can use to relieve the misery? Kid refuses Calpol which is a nightmare. Does love a bath though.

I had every intention of getting her vaccinated, but whenever I checked there were no local appointments available. Of course there are bloody loads now!

For the very vast majority of children it's an annoying but relatively mild childhood illness. For very few it can be very serious or even fatal.

Get some lotion for the spots incase they start to itch. Oat bath can also help. Piriton can ease the itch. Calpol/Nurofen helpful if she gets a temp (although not if she won't take it obviously!).
